While strolling today in the University Parks I discovered that flies do not think it is beneath their dignity to sip a little nectar, when they get a chance. I am not sure what benefit they give to the plant in return.

Here’s a series of pictures taken today. The bumble bees are very skilled at negotiating these prickly flowers.
